A Duathletes' Blessing

Thistle, lichen, basalt, crag,
Rowan, elder, yew.

May the wind be at your back,
Every breath a hand to speed you,
May the Lion’s Haunch be yours,
And animal strength rise within you.

Thistle, lichen, basalt, crag,
Rowan, elder, yew.

May the might of Samson’s Ribs
Sharpen your focus,
May your dream drive you on
As you push the earth past you.

Thistle, lichen, basalt, crag,
Rowan, elder, yew.

May you be one with pinion,
chain and frame,
May you ease past your
travelling companion, pain.
May the Innocent Railway
bring echoing shelter,
May you soon feel the finish
line drawing you home.

Thistle, lichen, basalt, crag,
Rowan, elder, yew.
