Sonnet of That Saturday

“Oh, look at you, in those cool shoes!” you say.
And I say “Thanks, I got them at the Fort,
Bank holiday, late April, nearly May,
Remember, all the fitness gear you bought?
And I texted from the clothes shops that we’d meet
Where the magician, and the piper from that band
Revealed their talent while we watchers tapped our feet.
And there I found you and you held my hand,
As singers sang the dreams we dare to dream,
Breathing their music with amazing ease,
You finished off my caramel ice cream,
Such sweetness in the gentle day’s spring breeze.
That moment felt like magic and much more
than shoes, you are the bargain I adore!”
